About Artifact

Artifact is rebuilding accounting from the ground up. We're not making the software incrementally better. We're rebuilding the work itself, so one accountant does what a team used to do, and a set of books closes itself in the background while a human stays in the loop.

The product is only as good as the implementation. Books are messy, every firm runs its own dialect of GAAP, and an agent that works in a sandbox can still get a close wrong in production. This role exists to make sure that doesn't happen, and to make every deployment after this one faster, sharper, and more repeatable.

We're backed by a16z Speedrun and Motive Ventures, with angels from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Goldman Sachs. We're based in London and NYC, and Top 100 firms run their clients' month end on us today. We're hiring an Agentic Accounting Implementation Lead to own our most critical accounts and shape how Artifact lands inside every firm we touch.

The role

  • You combine accounting operations expertise, implementation leadership, strong communication skills, and project management discipline to successfully deploy Artifact inside complex CAS environments. You will work directly with CAS leaders, partners, controllers, and accounting teams at large firms to understand their workflows, lead implementations, and drive successful adoption across the organization.

  • You own the account from POC to expansion. Scope, kickoff, configuration, success criteria, conversion to paid, and the expansion that follows. If the deal lands, it's because you landed it. If it doesn't, you can tell us exactly why.

  • You sit next to accountants during their close. You learn how their books actually move, not how the SOP says they move, and you turn what you see into agent configurations that hold up the second time, the tenth time, and the hundredth time.

  • You lead implementations across the suite. Arti, Dynamic Close Management, and Omni, including the integrations into each firm's existing stack (QBO, NetSuite, Intacct, Bill.com, Ramp, and the rest).

  • You run the full client implementation motion. Workflow discovery sessions, stakeholder alignment, configuration, UAT, training, go live, and the first close on the new system. You hold the plan, the timeline, and the room.

  • You partner with Sales on the deals where delivery confidence is the gating factor. Sales wants you on their hardest deals, because you run the technical conversation and close the delivery gap.

  • You are the connective tissue between the field and Product and Engineering. What you see in the field shapes the roadmap. You bring back signal, not noise.

  • You build the implementation motion as we scale. Playbooks, configuration patterns by firm archetype, onboarding artifacts, success metrics, and the internal tooling that makes the next ten deployments faster than the last.

  • You drive expansion inside the accounts you own. Additional entities, additional products, additional workflows. Growth is a delivery outcome here, not a separate motion.

  • You instrument your own work. Time to value, POC conversion, agent activation, expansion, net retention.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years in a delivery, implementation, solutions, or customer facing technical role at an accounting firm, a Fintech company, or both.

  • Fluency in how Accounting teams actually operate. Client onboarding, monthly close cycles, PBC chasing, review workflows, and the handoffs between staff, senior, and manager. You've lived inside this motion, not just observed it.

  • Experience leading client-facing implementation projects end to end, including workflow discovery sessions, UAT, training, and go-live execution.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including experience managing complex client implementations with multiple stakeholders, parallel workstreams, and competing timelines.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with partners, CAS leaders, controllers, and operational accounting teams. You can hold a partner conversation in the morning and a staff onboarding session in the afternoon.

  • You've used AI tools to build your own automations and can show us what you've shipped.

  • Demonstrated ability to map an existing accounting workflow to an agent based equivalent, and to reason about where agents will and won't hold up.

  • Comfortable building lightweight technical solutions on your own. Low code and no code platforms (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cowork), basic scripting (Python, JavaScript, or similar), API aware, fluent in spreadsheets and workflow tools.

  • KPI driven by default. You instrument your own work and bring us the numbers, not the other way around.

  • Self-starter who has improved or rebuilt a process at a previous job and can walk us through the before, the after, and the delta.

  • Direct communicator who pushes back when something is wrong, internally or with a client.

Bonus

  • CPA (nice to have).

  • Hands-on time inside a CAS or adjacent practice at a Top 25 firm.

  • Fluency with the modern accounting tech stack (QBO, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Ramp, Gusto, Dext, and so on).

What you will not do here

You will not run a delivery org from behind a desk. You're in the field, in the books, in the configuration. If your value add is steering other people who do the work, this is the wrong seat.

You will not own a queue of tickets or run a fixed check-in cadence. The deals you own move at the pace they need to move.

This is a high ownership role in a fast moving environment. Critical client deployments and close cycles may occasionally require flexibility outside standard business hours. We protect deep work time aggressively, and we are honest with you about the rhythm of the work.

Working at Artifact

We hire for a high bar. We're looking for people who have been excellent at something hard and know what that took: years of discipline, honest feedback, and sustained effort. You've brought that same standard to your professional work, shipping real systems, owning outcomes, and performing under pressure.

You're comfortable with ambiguity and high expectations. You don't need tight specs or external motivation. You want to work in person with other highly driven people on problems that actually matter.

Artifact's culture is intense and not for everyone. We work hard, we ship fast, and we are direct with each other when something is off. We trust people to own their work and handle it without being managed into it. We celebrate wins together, and we do not pretend everything is fine when it isn't.

We are a fit for you if: you are unreasonable about quality, you'd rather walk a client through a close than sit through a status meeting, you've been the person in a room full of accountants explaining why the software doesn't work the way it should, and you have a real, weird reason to want to spend the next several years rebuilding accounting.

We are not a fit for you if: you want predictable career progression frameworks, repetitive meetings, heavy processes, or formal mentorship structures. There are great companies that offer those things. We are not one of them, and that is on purpose.

This is intentionally not a broad search. If you've shown, somewhere in your life and career, that you can operate at a very high level and want to point that at something that matters, we'd love to talk.

Compensation

  • Base: $150k-$200k

  • Variable compensation tied to delivery and expansion metrics

  • Meaningful equity

  • Full benefits (medical, dental, vision)
